Harvest Appeal 2013

Harvest Appeal 2013

Dear Friends,

After such a wonderful spell of weather, it’s hard to believe that we will soon have to leave it all behind and prepare for autumn. With the approach of autumn comes the gathering in of the harvest. I am delighted to let you all know that because of your generosity last year, in both the amount of produce and financial donations, we have managed to provide good substantial and wholesome meals to our service users.

I know that a number of you have been asking recently for a comprehensive list of items to supply. To help you, I have prepared a list (see below) of all the food that we use throughout the year and all the products that we don’t use. If this list is adhered to then we should manage to go through the whole year without having to replenish our stock. It also means that we will have minimum waste (product not going out of date) and will not need to give away surplus items to other organisations.

I also thought that I should let you know that in addition to providing hot meals for our service users, we provide Emergency Food Packs to agencies who work with the vulnerable and homeless. These packs are usually for individuals but over the past 12 months we have seen an increase in requests to help not just single people but families too. The individual packs are usually made up using the smaller size tins that are donated and we would appreciate your support in providing these packs. The likelihood is that the demand for additional packs will increase when the changes to the benefit system firmly takes effect, especially the ‘bedroom tax’.

Without your ongoing support and help we would not be able to provide the food service that we do at the very low prices that we charge.

Please continue to support us again this year in whatever way you can, through produce, money donations or by sponsoring our milk or fresh fruit and vegetables or even the Christmas and Boxing Day dinner or anything you might think appropriate.

Thank you once again and may the Lord‘s Spirit of generosity continue to be with you all.

We will also be opening our doors between the hours of 1.00 and 3.00 p.m. on Sunday 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th of October. If you have any problems with these times please contact us on 0141 552 0285.
